How To Find a Senior Active Living Centre Program Near You

What is a Senior Active Living Centre program?

The Senior Active Living Centre program is a Government of Ontario community-based effort, designed to improve the general health and well-being of older adults, by offering social, cultural, learning and recreational programs all across the province. These programs can take place virtually, over the phone or within local community centers, and provide a variety of activities aimed at improving physical health, mental sharpness, and promoting social interaction. Whether it's exercise programs, arts and crafts, educational workshops, or social events, these centers help older individuals stay active, develop new skills, and interact with others. There are over 300 programs taking place across the province, such as:

  • arts and culture programs

  • book clubs

  • fitness centre and classes

  • health and wellness services

  • lifelong learning classes

  • multicultural social groups

  • recreation and leisure activities

  • special events

  • travel

The Ontario government continues to invest in "Seniors Active Living Centres" across the province to provide more community-based programs that promote physical and mental health, hence reducing reliance on long-term care. The $17 million investment for the 2023-24, will support 300 such centers.
