Fall Walks: Toronto Seniors’ Hiking Club, Gardening Enthusiasts and Distillery’s Winter Market

November marks the end of the Fall season and there is much to look forward to as we get closer to the holidays. With that said, there is still time to enjoy some outside activities and get to meet new friends! Here are a few fun and energizing walks to explore in and around the city.

  1. The Distillery Winter Village (also known as the Distillery’s Christmas Market) is opening on November 13th. With 40+ vendors, a beautiful setting filled with holiday cheer, families and local community members it’s bound to be a good time. We recommend getting your comfortable shoes out and going through a stroll through the market for some shopping and coffee with a friend (or mulled wine). There is no on-site box office, so please purchase your tickets ahead of time at https://www.thedistillerywintervillage.com/tickets

  2. Join the Toronto Seniors’ Hiking Club. They offer a program of weekly hikes in all parts of Metropolitan Toronto, throughout the year. The hikes are scheduled each Wednesday, start at 11:00 a.m. at a TTC-accessible location and end around 3:00 p.m. A half-hour break is incorporated to eat a packed lunch. Weather permitting this break will be outside. Whenever possible the hikes are planned on trails and paths in the city's numerous parks, ravines and green belts, but occasionally part of the walk will be on city streets. 3. Toronto Botanical Toronto Botanical Garden - Fall Gardening Workshops

For green thumbs or anyone interested in learning about gardening, floral arts and crafts and more, the Toronto Botanical Garden hosts a series of fall workshops in November. Earlier in November, they held a seminar on preparing your garden for the colder months. Later in November, they are hosting more workshops focused on floral art, wreath making and other floral arrangements. It’s a fantastic opportunity for seniors to get outside, enjoy nature, and connect with other gardening enthusiasts. The Botanical Garden is wheelchair accessible and provides a peaceful setting to learn and enjoy. The city is vibrant and full of activities and walks this Fall. See you out and about!
