Tool Alert: Find wait times in Ontario for surgeries, diagnostic imaging or breast cancer screening.

Did you know that the Ontario Health website has a tool which shows the Wait Times for certain medical services in Ontario, Canada? It offers real-time data on how long patients can expect to wait for various surgeries, diagnostic tests (CT and MRI), and breast screening (mammogram). The platform helps individuals make informed decisions about their healthcare by providing transparency regarding wait times across different regions and medical specialties.

Upon selecting one of the three service options, the tool will prompt you to select multiple search criteria, such as: adult vs. pediatric service, postal code and further specification of the medical service. Once you click ‘search’ the tool will then provide a map, and a listing of all medical institutions near you, and the wait times for the service selected.

To access the tool visit https://www.ontariohealth.ca/public-reporting/wait-times

To show you an example, below we’ve requested to see the wait times for an MRI on the east end of Toronto, for an adult - the below is what the tool provided.
